The Marine Next Door MOBI Õ The Marine Kindle -

The Marine Next Door Pretty fast moving and readable Another in a long line of books about the KCPD I liked the hero and how he had been in unrequited love with another woman for years but once he saw Maggie he was over it I wasn t as fond of Maggie because even though she was a cop, she was still a pretty weak person The relationship moved VERY fast I m not sure even a week had passed and they were all in love but I forgave it because it was well written and in romantic suspense you usually don t have as much time to work with or the crime element becomes ludicrously drawn out The crime was interesting but the over arcing serial killer story was not completed in this book so we ll need to see the next story I have an idea of who the next couple will be but it s just that, an idea So that s nice because I don t like heavy handed sequel bait. So I have never read a Harlequinn Book before, and this could just be how they are formatted, but the words were huge on my Kindle, spacing was all funky and so yeah, that honestly took a bit away for me as I was reading, because it seemed like it was just thrown together Past thatthe book had a lot of great moments between the two main characters but I found myself starting to skim quite a bit The overall mystery that was the core of the book outside of the romance, didn t grab my attention and I mostly became interested in their relationship than anything else. Survival instinct Having survived an abusive marriage , Maggie has created a new life for her and her son, Travis When her ex shows up again, she turns to former Marine and Kansas City fireman, John Together they work through issues and search for a serial killer Strong characters and spine tingling twists and turns pull you from the beginning to the end A must read from Julie Miller Definitely doesn t disappoint. In Miller s romantic suspense novel, Maggie Wheeler was both a cop and a survivor Having survived a traumatic event ten years earlier, Maggie was surprised when John Murdock moved in next door and her son immediately bonded with him Unexplained accidents begin to happen and John s protective instincts kick in The time he spends with Maggie, the convinced he is that she knows about what s happening than she admits A wounded warrior himself, John can do nothing but protect the woman and child while fighting the attraction that blossoms between them.A fast paced, action packed addition to The Precinct Task Force series with an ending I didn t see coming Trigger warning rape I bought this one when it was on special recently for 99c I love the rescue trope, even though it is becoming increasingly hard for me to find books which give me the payoff I m after Maggie Wheeler is a Sergeant for the Kansas City PD and has recently qualified to apply for her detective shield She s a single mother, with a 10 year old son, Travis Former marine and now arson investigator Captain John Murdock moves in next door to her and her son Maggie s ex husband, Danny, has recently been released from prison for his brutal rape of Maggie a decade before do the math and she is nervous of meeting new men Even so, Travis quickly bonds with John and Maggie finds herself attracted for the first time since her attack The romance moved super fast this stretched my credulity to breaking point particularly given that Maggie hasn t had sex with anyone since she was raped for a weekend by her violent now ex husband That she had no hang ups about getting intimate with someone after so long, except for a fear she wouldn t be very good at it, seemed unrealistic For a mother as protective of her son as Maggie is, the thought that she d be prepared to move in with John after mere days of being in a relationship was also a bit much I m practicing the art of understatement here.Read the rest I had two major issues with this story The first that the author spends way too much time telling instead of showing, which makes the book very slow tedious at times even though it s just over 200 pages A character sits in their car and thinks about the past Or sits in their office and goes over the past Or stands in their kitchen and thinks about the recent pastetc It gets old very fast When the H and h finally have their first date we don t read about it as it happens Instead we get the heroine sitting around after the fact basically telling the reader what happened. My other issue is how incompetent the heroine is as a cop how dumb she is as a person It made it hard to sympathize with her At one point in the middle of the story her abusive ex publicly violates his parole she could easily have him sent back to jail thus ending her troubles Of course that would also end the story Instead she repeatedly does stupid things in order to keep the plot going On the other hand, maybe the author also just doesn t know enough about police procedure.I also have an issue with a character we re supposed to view as tough, who s independent and who s taken charge of her life after being victimized by a man who then turns to another man to save her She actually does next to nothing for herself It s all left up to the hero to fix everything, which he does purely because of how she looks she s a stranger who s not particularly nice to him and because his own need to take care of the world In contrast, she is a basket case from page one Maybe if the author had shown her as together competent at other times the impression would be different Sadly, we don t see that. This is one of many cases where I think an author can only write what they know Throughout the book it seemed the heroine was very good at being codependent and playing a victim But boundaries, toughness, or actual self reliance did not exist in her world Case in point one minor character who could easily be viewed as an entitled heiress having a bridezilla fit is instead called out as projecting the persona of a strong, powerful professional woman The reader knows she s not exactly a bridezilla But that the author seems to think having a breakdown at a bridal parlor just taking off is how you project power, strength, and professionalism is rather telling.Oh, and stories where a couple spend all of a few days together and it s happily ever after always make me roll my eyes Here it s worse since a child is involved This being a romance, of course the child instantly picks the hero as his new dad. He Saw That Her Safety Was ThreatenedMaggie Wheeler never stopped looking over her shoulder It was a habit she d learned from being a copand from a devastating event in her past So when John Murdock moved in next door, Maggie didn t know what to make of the sexy marine But once her son formed a bond with the mysterious stranger, Maggie knew that past might not remain hidden much longer She Saw Him For The Hero He Truly Was With his unwavering sense of duty, John would never let a call for help go unanswered Especially from the beautiful wounded warrior who refused to give up her secrets Although she likely knewabout who was after her than she d ever let on, John vowed to protect those in need Only then could he find peace, maybe even a door away [PDF / Epub] ❤ The End (The 30-Day Collective Book 1) ✅ Ellen A. Easton – Ralphslaurensoutlet.co.uk Maggie didn t know what to make of the sexy marine But once her son formed a bond with the mysterious stranger ❰BOOKS❯ ✬ The Light Over London Author Julia Kelly – Ralphslaurensoutlet.co.uk Maggie knew that past might not remain hidden much longer She Saw Him For The Hero He Truly Was With his unwavering sense of duty ➶ [Reading] ➸ Cell By Robin Cook ➫ – Ralphslaurensoutlet.co.uk John would never let a call for help go unanswered Especially from the beautiful wounded warrior who refused to give up her secrets Although she likely knewabout who was after her than she d ever let on [Reading] ➶ Braving the Wilderness Author BrenĂ© Brown – Ralphslaurensoutlet.co.uk John vowed to protect those in need Only then could he find peace [PDF / Epub] ✅ Lightning / Midnight / The Bad Place By Dean Koontz – Ralphslaurensoutlet.co.uk maybe even a door away Ok, Ms Miller s long running series flies in the face of the series going on too long theory Somehow, possibly because she visits family, friends, co workers, and possibly because the books are short so she doesn t run out of things to say, she s managed to keep this series going through over 20 books. So we meet our H, whose sister was the h in the previous book, and who d been the partner of one of the original h s ages ago He s dealing with the loss of a leg, and assorted issues stemming from having been in Afghanistan And we meet our h, a desk sergeant with her own set of issues stemming from having been married to an abusive rapist And her ex is back. There were some things near the end that I really thought the h was dumb about Like, she gets off from work, her vehicle has been vandalized by her ex, she gets someone from the police dept to take her home and she doesn t get him to see her to her apt I don t know about you, but if I were being stalked, and I knew the man had access to my apt long story there , I would NOT go home alone Ever Well, at least until the bastage was dead I was also than a little surprised that the h hadn t had intensive self defense training under the circumstances.IN spite of the issues though, the book was decent. This is probably one of my favorite books from the Intrigue line The heroine had suffered a great deal in her life but she has managed to come out on top It s understandable that she still has a sense of fear weakness concerning her ex husband but she still manages to hold her head high through the fear Enter the sexy hero, hero being a very appropriate term Just reading the description had me drooling He s my perfect man rolled up in a delicious package 6 5 , retired Marine, ex firefighter, intelligent has to be in order to evoke an arson investigator , muscular, protective, slightly broody.definitely high in the yum factor There are obviously escapees from Crazytown in this book they seem to flock to Maggie like flies to honey I m excited to read the rest of the books in the series I m curious to see who the Rose Red Rapist is I have a feeling it s someone we ve already been introduced to wondering if I m right as to who is gonna hook up with who from the task force Definitely enjoyable so pick it up if you re looking for something quick, entertaining, intriguing My one gripe about this story is pretty much the same as most romance novels It takes the span of like 3 or 4 days love is just being thrown around, which I just don t find believable. Maggie Wheeler s life has not been easy but things are starting to look up Being asked to be part of the task force formed to catch the Red Rose Rapist is her chance to prove her skills as a cop John Murdock has always answered the call to serve and proctect He moves in next door to Maggie and soon relizes that danger is breathing down Maggie and her son s necks Offering to help John and Maggie start falling for each other But will Maggie s past destory the budding romance And will the task force manage to catch the Red Rose Rapist before they strike again Julie Miller delivers a great start to what looks to be another great series Along with all the new faces are old friends from her past books Plus she gives us a new villian that will bring shivers to your spine I am looking forward to getting to know the rest of the task force as they work together to bring down the Red Rose Rapist.
