Susan Meissner writes three stories in the book The Girl in the Glass There are three major people for each story, Marguerite Editor , Nora Medici woman who speaks through paintings , and Sofia who wants to write a book about Nora Marguerite has issues with love, her father s love and boyfriends love Nora has issues with her family and the tragic deaths that take them away from her Then Sofia has issues both of love loss but an additional issue that I will not reveal for the sak Susan Meissner writes three stories in the book The Girl in the Glass There are three major people for each story, Marguerite Editor , Nora Medici woman who speaks through paintings , and Sofia who wants to write a book about Nora Marguerite has issues with love, her father s love and boyfriends love Nora has issues with her family and the tragic deaths that take them away from her Then Sofia has issues both of love loss but an additional issue that I will not reveal for the sake of the story Add to this romance in the beautifu Meg has lived a lifetime of heartache since her parents divorced, since her grandmother died Her father had become mostly a stranger to her life, and although he promised someday to taker her to Florence, Italy, the place of her grandmother s birth, he has never come through on it Or anything else But suddenly, there is a plane ticket on her doorstep to Florence, leaving tonight Will she take it Her life seems to have not much else going on She can do it What will happen when she gets the Meg has lived a lifetime of heartache since her parents divorced, since her grandmother died Her father had become mostly a stranger to her life, and although I m not quite sure how to rate this story It kept me reading, although there were parts where I lost interest and skimmed, and I didn t love the way it wrapped up BUT I think this is mostly because the main character is quite dissimilar to myself I relatedto Renata in the story I enjoyed taking a little walk down memory lane with the descriptions of Florence, and I enjoyed the women s fiction pace of the tale Bottom line is that Susan Meissner is a great weaver of tales, and this one I m not quite sure how to rate this stor When I was asked if I was interested in reading and reviewing this novel, as an Italophile I was absolutely delighted to do so Always interested in reading a novel set in Italy this did not disappoint, although I have yet to meet a real life Italian that drinks cappucini after midday It was difficult to decide what genre this should be placed in as it is part historical fiction and part contemporary and as such will appeal to a wide cross section of readers Susan Meissner has skilfully intert When I was asked if I was interested in reading and reviewing this novel, as an Italophile I was absolutely delighted to do so Always interested in reading a novel set in Italy this did not disappoint, although I have yet to meet a real life Italian that drinks cappucini after midday It was difficult to decide what genre this should be placed in as it is part historical fiction and part contemporary and as such will appeal to a wide cross section of readers Susan Meissner has skilfully intertwined the historical story of a real Medici with her contemporary characters Three women from different generations Nora, Meg and Sofia are the protagonists in this complex but still very easy to read novel Nora Orsini is a Medici princess from the sixteenth century whose story is told in brief chapters amongst the contemporary ones, which feature Meg an editor with a travel publisher and Sofia an idiosyncratic author whose work has been drawn to Meg s attention.The story opens in San Die
