to try and get the human, wolf and dragon leaders to talk to each other.Wish they d been aboutabout the wonders of Cloudhaven Maybe some future stories from there.Fave scenes Rayna s fruit tart, the baby birds , talking to the major, Ferdie Sakaria s near mishap and the mirrow meeting This book is a satisfying conclusion to the Elementals trilogy After the destructive events of the previous book, all the children are in shock about the damage they inadvertently inflicted, tired and hopeless about what to do next They have managed to escape to Cloudhaven, the early home of the dragons which is a magical entity in itself, which initially permits only Reyna and Anders to properly enter the premises After taking some time to rest and take stock, they are back in the game, look This book is a what to do next They have managed to escape to Cloudhaven, the early home of the dragons which is a magical entity in itself, which initially permits only Reyna and Anders to properly enter the premises After taking some time to rest and take stock, they are back in the game, looking for allies, searching for their parents, attempting to understand Cloudhaven and its workings, trying to find a means to unite humans, wolves and dragons It s an action packed race to the finish with time being of the utmost essence The mixed band of Elementals split up into smaller units to do the various tasks that need to be accomplished, picking up some human allies along the way There is some suspicion as to who was behind the supposed dragon fire, and the reveal as to who is behind the entire escalation of hostility between wolves and dragons is not surprising, but it s very saddening The final confrontation scene is very well done, and I found the artefacts used one in particular to be quite interesting. The series gives a very good message about different communities working together and learning to deal with each others differences This was a satisfying conclusion to a charming middle grade fantasy series about diversity and inclusion It had a really heartwarming message and I enjoyed seeing the kids solving puzzles, going on adventures, bringing people together to talk through their problems I do wish it had been 50 100 pages longer, so we could learnabout artifacts and to let the resolution sit and simmer a while longer In general I wish we d gotinfo about the artifacts and magic system This series read This was a satisfying conclusion to a charming middle grade fantasy series about diversity and inclusion It had a really heartwarming message and I enjoyed those 8 10 year old fantasy readers in your life sniff it s fine, I m only happy crying.Battle Born was exactly what I wanted from the final book in the trilogy, focused on learning to listen and understand each other, and treasure the things that make us different I may be over 20 years older than the intended audience I will never ever ever stop reading children s and YA books but I m so happy for the children who will get to read this series, and see themselves in it Even down to the smallest details, from the dragon who needs a whee sniff it s fine, I m only happy crying.Battle Born for this day and age I really enjoyed this trilogy for its fun world building and I m a sucker for animal transformation powers and wolves, what can I say , and though it wasn t ground breaking, it the humans, wolves, and dragons together and there s a really great message here about how the young can sometimes overcome the entrenched hatred of the older generations It takes a while to really get going, and I thought the ending needed to be expanded upon waythan it was It s satisfying, but just kind of superficial in the details and I have a lot of questions that weren t answered Overall though, a very enjoyable middle grade fantasy view spoiler I felt like the ending was just a little too easy There aren t really many details about how life works in the new peaceful Vallen outside of the human wolf dragon school What happened to Cloudhaven Is it just abandoned again Who is in charge in Holbard Is there a multi species council Do dragons live in Holbard now Do wolves live in Drekhelm Lots of details missing from the ending and it felt abrupt I would love a sequel showing the difficulties that come with massive social order changes and incorporatingof the thunder lions and stone bears that are briefly mentioned hide spoiler Whoever said Amie is the nice one in the Kaufman Kristoff writing duo never read Amie s solo works This was such a roller coaster of emotions for me yes I know this is a middle grade book and I am so emotionally attached to Anders You can really see Anders character development from being shy and doesn t really have confidence or self worth in book one to a confident leader in the last book 5 5 I m not sure why but I didn t enjoy this conclusion as much as I did the first two books in the series Maybe I just wasn t in the right headspace to be reading this book but I forced myself to continue anyway instead of setting it aside and picking it up again later The characters remain excellent I love how inclusive this book is for all types of characters. I was really satisfied with the conclusion of this story I love the twins and thought the uniting of characters in the last book in the trilogy worked really well Good enjoyable read 4 stars. Such a fun series
