Trivium: The Classical Liberal Arts of Grammar, Logic,

Trivium: The Classical Liberal Arts of Grammar, Logic, & Rhetoric Trivium serves as a fine introduction to grammar, logic, rhetoric and ethics It helped spark my interest in these topics, especially logic and rhetoric and made me want to lookinto them Trivium would also serve as a good reference book for writers, for it has a section on letters and their connotations, as well as proverbs categorized by topic and explanation on punctuation. My personal thoughts on all six books parts and the appendixes Book 1 euphonicsI liked it but it s definitely not Trivium serves as a fine introduction to grammar, logic, rhetoric and ethics It helped spark my interest in these topics, especially logic and rhetoric and made me want to lookinto them Trivium would also serve as a good reference book for writers, for it has a section on letters and their connotations, as well as proverbs categorized by topic and explanation on punctuation. My personal thoughts on all six books parts and the appendixes Book 1 euphonicsI liked it but it s definitely not for me Might serve as inspiration for writing poetry, but I found some of the letters connotations a bit far fetched.Book 2 grammarGood introduction but sometimes a bit too general Doesn t explain the topics in detail because every topic has to fit within two pages Author really likes going nuts with quotes.Book 3 poetic meter and formGood introduction on many aspects of poetry Enjoyed it Sometimes a bit too general.Book 4 LogicIntroduces logic step by step, but the rule that a topic can t go on forthan two pages really does this section a disservice, as some topics feel under explained But I digress, I did mention this isof an introductory book.Book 5 RhetoricFun to read Concepts are well explained The use of quotes works better in this section than in book 2, as it is the rhetoric in them that is analyzed Book 6 EthicsA good book to read since it does remind you to slow down and contemplate what s going on in your life and the world at the moment.Appendixes Character and Story a nice introductionMemory interesting and useful tricksProverbs nice referencesPunctuation Always handyVerb aspects useful for referencesThis book is a very good introductory book, but it has the tendency to under explain some topics Really fun collection of books Some questionable examples chosen. I find this book to be a fantastic compendium of the linguistics arts I hoped I would have had this book when I was in college as it summarises in a great way linguistic matters and it would have come in handy. I won t go back to this Renaissance art history is muchinteresting. This is a nice coffee table book It contains information on Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric The examples contained within are from quotes and other sayings So if you ever wanted to know what a zeugma is and don t feel like Googling it, this book could be for you. An excellent book, but would have loved to have had some exercises examples in there.it s worth getting.
