The Truth Seeker’s Handbook: A Science Based Guide MOBI

The Truth Seeker’s Handbook: A Science Based Guide I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to Dr Tsipursky to launch such a thoughtful book as the book has been organized into three sections The first outlines truthseeking strategies pursued primarily for the sake of avoiding false beliefs within ourselves The second deals with truthseeking in relation to other people Finally, the third describes two strategies for individuals, teams, and organizations to see the truth and thus make better decisions The effort I put into truthseeking will be very much worth it This book is quite helpful as this book includesresources on effective decisionmaking This book provides the manual for truthseeking skills. This book would have been helpful in the past as I just came to know about how our minds work, we can be intentional about influencing our own thinking and feeling patterns We can evaluate realityclearly, make better decisions, and improve our ability to achieve goals Once I had to go through fundamental attribution error which is also called correspondence bias in my university life One of my best friend had a relationship with a bad guy I was trying to make her understand that she is going to wrong path but my other friends found me wrong as they didn’t even know about my that friend who was involved with a bad guy Without knowing the proper reason they all were misunderstanding me If I would get chance to read this book earlier, I might solve this correspondence bias by applying different debiasing strategies as described in this book What I read proved surprising and unexpected to know about the Cognitive biases that lead us to make poor decisions, such as overconfidence effect, optimism bias, and planning fallacy I agree with the author that our bad decisionmaking comes from failing to understand the role of emotions in making decisions These bad decisions are costly In our everyday life, bad decisions cause us to lose money, time, relationships, health, and happiness Making bad decisions in the workplace results in our organizations losing money, time, and reputation, as well as undermining teamwork and employee morale Now which I will be taking forward with me is I can make the best decisions possible for myself my team and my organization.I think Mereexposure effect might be vulnerable It refers to our brain’s tendency to believe something is true and good just because we are familiar with it, regardless of whether that something is actually true and good Often I have been criticized by few people because in spite of being a girl I have chosen Textile Engineering as they think men prefer this subject rather than women but I truly feel that I enjoyed 4 years of my academic life Also I did MBA in the same field Everything in our lives, personal and professional, results from our decisions Making good decisions depends on us having the right information Practicing the skills of truthseeking will help us developrealistic expectations and accurate beliefs, which are necessary. This is a remarkable book A few of the images in it give away some leftleaning political bias, but the chapters full of general principles and the specific debate tactics used successfully by the author are extraordinarily valuable to anyone with a point of view they want to verify and defend And there are ample portions devoted to difficulties and imperfections on both sides of the current divide You do not have to be a statistician or a psychologist to grasp the explanations of probabilistic thinking or lizard brain and elephant analogies I recommend it. DNFThis book reads as if the author considers the reader stupid The biggest example is in the captions for each photo Picture of people looking at a map and the caption says people looking at a map I never would of known that without the caption to help. We all imagine that our beliefs, decisions, and actions are based on a sound foundation Unfortunately, that rosy opinion of ourselves is often false Our own brains have a tendency to take convenient shortcuts, such as gut reactions and a reliance of cognitive biases that lead us astray Shortcuts save time and energy that's why we use them but occasionally they create personal or societal disasters If we could only remember to search for the truth before major decisions, we'd all be better off Dr Gleb Tsipursky has written a wonderful book to help us cut through misinformation, emotional traps, and hone in on the truth I found lots of practical information, stuff that we might (or might not) learn through the hard knocks of life The Individual TruthSeeking section was my favorite part of the book I've figured out some of this on my own, but if such a clear presentation had been available a couple of decades ago, the road would have been smoother and I'd be a happier person The second section, TruthSeeking Other People is also useful I plan to study this material and try to use it habitually I am strongly drawn to Chapter 28 Collaborative TruthSeeking and Chapter 29 Having Trouble Resolving Disagreements? Here Are Some Effective Techniques I'm a bit burned out politically, so the final section Truth Seeking Civic Life was less enjoyable for me But that saysabout me than Dr Tsipursky's writing It doesn't matter if we are Liberal or Independent or Conservative It's important that politicians base their policies on real facts and rational thinking We voters must recognize (and resist) when politicians are trying to manipulate us through our biases and emotions And above all, we must recognize good journalism and avoid being fooled by fake news Again, our political viewpoints aren't nearly as important as HOW we arrive there The third section of this book helps a lot Finally, unlike a lot of nonfiction books on the market, this one is meticulously researched and referenced Buy the ebook version and you will find links to every claim made Look up the hard facts and scientific research for yourself You should expect no less from book about Truth Gleb Tsipursky delivers his premise and backs it up. Excellent for detailing personality types and specific ways to improve our effectiveness in achieving our life goals I'm only half way through and already looking forward to utilizing the suggestions in improving my life and achieving my goals Highly reccommended! This book helped me focus my thoughts and gave me confidence in convincing others It provide quick actionable suggestions on how to think and express myself clearly and get past bickering to real understanding I'll have to read it again in a few months to reinforce the tactics. Very Effective and Realistic book! Thank you very much Dr Gleb Tsipursky for publishing “The TruthSeeker’s Handbook” book which will really help people to developrealistic expectations and accurate beliefs, which are necessary for achieving goals I think this is a helpful book for me to lead an amazing life.I feel very worried and tensed when I found a mistake that I have done I spent all day thinking about a mistake and I began to ask questions to myself, what I have done? What will happen next? These questions ruin my day If I got this book in the past, I could have known how to control my mind after getting involved with such problems and learned about the intentional strategy of thinking “bad news is good news” to face the problem properly.I found the most surprising part of this book is “Stop! Live the Life You Want” By reading this book, I have learned that money and security mattered less than a profession that would be genuinely satisfying and meaningful and I have also learned about the 3 steps to have a clear life goal I will take these 3 strategies included in this book with me to reach my goal successfully.I think the Attentional bias will be vulnerable for me because I usually get confused by taking an important decision in my life which will stay with me for a long time I have learned that emotional traps could cost us our longterm happiness when they influence our big decisions, such as getting a new home or a car Before taking an important decision in my life I will definitely use the strategy included in this book to defend myself from the Attentional bias in the future Thanks again for making my career path beautiful and I feel very grateful to read this book.
